I was introduced to the beautiful LaKesha around week 3 into my 16 week chemotherapy drug treatment.  My sorority sister (thank you Spechy Linda @linmfred) tagged me in one of her company’s IG posts. I previously expressed to Linda that I wanted to connect with other breast cancer patients and survivors in hopes of gaining insight from women who are going through or have gone through this same journey. I quickly contacted LaKesha and was inspired by her from the very beginning. She was the FIRST, melanin queen I knew (besides myself) that was diagnosed with breast cancer at a young age. I was shocked AND comforted to know I wasn’t alone. There were other young, black, down to earth “normal” woman with breast cancer out there….and ones that have SURVIVED!!  It’s only right  that she is the first highlighted warrior in the Cancer Slayer Series. In LaKesha’s own words, read what #SlayCancer means to her :

Warrior

“To me #SlayCancer means to slay it with a purpose. Pre cancer, I was just living, NOW I am living and slaying a purposeful life.
I #SlayedCancer by starting a non profit breast cancer organization called Pink S.H.O.E.S. (Strength. Hope. Optimism. Endurance. Survival) for young women. Still slaying by assisting young women going through this disease, while being a source of inspiration to them. Slaying cancer is about how you can pay it forward helping the next women, while wearing some fabulous Pink S.H.O.E.S., smiling and loving life while doing so.”

Major BIG UP to LaKesha for finding her purpose and light while Slaying Cancer!!!! Continue to be an inspiration to others including myself.
